Ingelgar was a York moneyer who worked for the Hiberno-Norse kings of York, Anlaf Quaran and Eric Bloodaxe. He also worked for the Wessex king Eadred as well as Eadmund. His career as a moneyer neatly reflects the struggle for control of York in the 940s between the Norse Vikings and the kings of Wessex. SCBI/EMC lists only 16 coins of Ingelgar for Eadmund. A coin from the same dies was sold at DNW, 21 March 2016, lot 550
