William III (1694-1702), 'Flaming Hair' Shilling, 1699, fourth laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, rev. crowned shields cruciform, five strings to harp, edge obliquely milled, 5.77g, 6h (ESC 1116; Bull 1142; Spink 3515), scratch to the chin and some flatness at 12 o'clock, otherwise with a pleasing tone to uniformly grey surfaces, very fine, the scarcer bust type for this notoriously rare date
