The Owen-Rooke Collection | Edward 'the Confessor' (1042-1066), 'Facing Bust' Type, Penny, 1062-1065, Wallingford, Brandr, [+ E]ADPARD REX A[N], crowned bust facing, rev. + BRAND • ON [•] P[A]LI, small cross pattée, 1.01g, 12h (SCBI 9 [Ashmolean], 1049-1052, cf. 1049 same dies; North 830; BMC XIII; Spink 1183), metal flaw to the obverse legend at 12 o'clock and general light porosity to surfaces, otherwise struck details, very fine, albeit the reverse somewhat doubled, a rare variety with only eight examples traced and officially recorded, half of which are in the Ashmolean
