Kingdom of Macedon, Alexander III 'The Great' (336-323BC), Posthumous, AR Tetradrachm, c.328-330BC, Lampsakos, head of young Heracles right, clad in lion's skin, paws tied before neck, all within beaded border rev. ALEXANDRON Zeus seated left on backless throne, eagle in right hand, staff in left, club vertical in right field, two struts under throne, no marks below or in exergue, 11h, (Price 1346), lustrous with some toning, possible grafitti marks on reverse, a rare posthumous issue without crossed-leg variety of reverse, very fine.
