Kingdom of Macedon, Alexander III 'The Great' (336-323BC), AR Tetradrachm, c.330-320BC, Damascus, head of young Heracles right, clad in lion's skin, paws tied before neck, all within beaded border rev. ALEXANDRON Zeus seated left on backless throne, eagle in right hand, staff in left, forepart of ram in left field, two struts below seat, pellet in between, DA below seat, all within beaded border 12h, (Price, 3203), a delightful example, well-struck and centred with clear details, especially on reverse, light but attractive toning, pleasing lustre. Fine scratch in reverse upper-left field, but otherwise a splendid specimen, extremely fine.
