George III (1760-1820), 'Spade' Guineas (2), 1790, fourth laureate head right, rev. crowned 'Spade' shield, edge chevron milled, 12h (MCE 394; Farey 1290; EGC 718; Spink 3739), removed from a solder mount and heavily polished, struck details mediocre; another, 1791, similar, edge chevron milled, 12h (MCE 395; Farey 1300; EGC 719; Spink 3729), removed from a solder mount with damage at 10-2 o'clock, otherwise lightly cleaned and flecked, residually lustrous, a really bold very fine (2)
