IACOBVS D : G : MAG : BRI : FRA : ET HIB : REX, colon stops, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust left, two loose tie ends, rev. HENRICVS ROSAS REGNA (m.m.) IACOBVS, no stops, crowned square-topped shield over long cross fourchée, 2.20g, 9h, m.m. rose (North 2118; Spink 2642), historic scratch across neck as if in ritualistic act of beheading - a witch's curse [?], and with peripheral striking softness, otherwise naturally toned and lustrous, struck details approaching very fine
