IN • OCVLIS • NRIS •, Royal Shield set atop Tudor Rose, spandrels plain, 13.57g [209.4grns], 3h, m.m. rose (Stewartby [2001], dies A/c; AHH Virtual 159; Ryan 359; Drabble 165; Lockett 2071; North 2079; Spink 2613), cracked and hastily repaired by legs, the surfaces lightly burnished, otherwise on a full round flan, struck details approaching very fine, and a desirable example of Jacobean Britain's biggest gold coinage
