Edward III (1327-1377), Hammered Silver Coins (6), including: Groats, London (2), Pre-Treaty Period, Series G, 1356-1361, crowned bust facing, rev. CIVIT•A•S LONDON, additional pellets flanking A, long cross and trio of pellets in angles, 4.10g, 5h (Spink 1570); another, Post-Treaty Period, 'Chainmail on Breast' variety, French and Aquitanian titles resumed, similar, 4.56g, 5h (LAL 3; W J W Potter, NumChron [1962], pp. 203-224, Pl. XIII, no. 2; Doubleday 622 this coin; North 1284; Spink 1639), scratches on face, otherwise historic cabinet tone, fine or marginally better, a very rare variety with the Chainmail on breast and combination of three Royal titles; also, Pre-Treaty Period, Series C, Halfgroat, London, similar, 1.96g, 3h (Spink 1575); additionally, Third Coinage, 'Florin', Pennies, London, 1344-1351 (2), 1.22g, 11h; similar, 1.12g, 7h (Spink 1543ff); lastly, Second Coinage, 'Star' Halfpenny, 1335-1343, London, 0.66g, 9h (Spink 1607), all richly cabinet toned, some with die clashing, fair to near very fine (6)
