Iron Age Britain, Atrebates and Regni, Uninscribed Coinage (c. 60-40 BC), 'Three Wheel' Type, AV Quarter-Stater, c. 50-35 BC, "Rudd's East Wiltshire Group" centred at Durocornovium [?], debased laureate head of Apollo right, rev. triple-tailed horse right, 'no mane' variety, wheel motif above and below, spike piercing neck, [Spink XRF: 59.18% Au; 31.05% Ag; 9.52% Cu; 0.24% Fe], 1.344g [20.74grns], 3h, 10.9mm. diameter (Atrebatic B; Allen "Minor Cantonal Grouping"; Bean QcT1-3; VA 224-1; Mack 64; BMC 498-501; ABC 2093 ["ER" ~ attributed to Cornovii]; Spink 48), striking flatness at 6 o'clock and corresponding area of reverse, otherwise subtly waterworn on a richer honey-golden fabric, with much residual lustre in reverse fields, approaching very fine, very rare
