Stage 1a-1c: a group of five proofs in red on fine wove paper with two solid rings of shading around the circumference of the design and uncleared background, as before but in dull-red, in black with circumference fully cleared, no highlights on nose and final state in deep blue on fine wove paper with cut down proof of same stage with background cleared. Spec. from £13,000. A fine and rare group.
