1912 (16 April), autograph postcard, initialled "C.H.N.", Fairford Lodge, Millbrook Road, Southampton, "5P.M.16/4 9TUESDAY, 16 April 1912, addressed to "H.R. Nias Esq., Goldington Grange Bedford" giving dramatic and poignant news of the Titanic disaster, the liner having sunk the previous day; franked George V ½d. green with Southampton Krag six line machine cancellation; the card with some small wrinkles but believed to be the earliest recorded reference sent on the day after the disaster and gives a remarkably perceptive and accurate insight. Very rare
