Soldier's and Seamen's Envelope to Krugersdorp, South Africa, sent by Gunner Arkley of the Burgher Contingent, cancelled by Base Office Obbia c.d.s., the reverse with Aden (12.2) and part arrival c.d.s. (a part of the flap is missing); a heavy vertical crease and soiled. Printed handstamp of the commanding officer. A good cover from this South African contingent

The Burgher Contingent was raised in the first fortnight of January 1903 to swell the size of the force. It had a strength of 109, consisting of 3 British officers and 9 British soldiers, the remainder being Boer officers (4) and soldiers
