Auction: 23026 - Stamps and Covers of the World
Lot: 1519
(x) Northern Rhodesia
1963 Arms Issue
3d. yellow upper left corner block of sixteen (4x4) with variety orange (Eagle) omitted, superb unmounted mint and the second largest multiple after the lower left corner block of twenty-four. Unlike the block of twenty-four offered in the Neville Polakow auction, in which the first stamps in rows 8, 9 and 10 show varying traces of orange in the lower part of the shield, the block here shows absolutely no trace of any orange in the shield. A superb and highly important showpiece multiple of this rare variety. S.G. 78d, £19,200++. Photo
Note: The two blocks mentioned above came from a half sheet of sixty discovered in 1996
