(x) United States of America
Orson Welles (1915-1985)
1963 Commemorative edition of The Mercury Theatre's radio adaptation of the H.G. Wells science fiction classic "War of the Worlds". Welles commissioned a private edition of twenty six copies of the script / radio play, each numbered and signed by him and one or more members of the cast or production. This being number Y of the edition, further signed by assistant producer Joseph Cotton, and the author of the original radio play, Howard Koch. Their signatures are repeated on the final page, with the signature of Koch's co-writer, Ann Froelick.
The realistic broadcast of the play that interrupted normal programming caused panic in certain areas of the USA. Housed in a black springback folder.
