1863 Carte de visite of Dickens, his head turned to his right, photograph by John & Charles Watkins, London, signed and dated "Charles Dickens / Christmas 1863". Signed photographs of Dickens are of the utmost rarity.

From the collection of Dr. James Sheridan Muspratt (1821-1871), Irish born research chemist, who lived in Liverpool, where his father had an industrial chemical company. He organised a visit to Liverpool by Dickens's amateur theatre company in 1847.
