1915 (Jan.) 3r. blue-black and red of German East Africa, handstamped "g.r./ mafia" in reddish-violet, a well-centred example, one slightly blunted perf. at right; fine and fresh colour with large part toned original gum. An exceptionally rare stamp with Gibbs estimating just twelve examples overprinted in reddish-violet. Signed Holcombe and with his Certificate (1992). S.G. 10c, £16,000
