1935 (21 Oct.) large part of parcel wrapper addressed to Albert F. Ellis Esq, CMG, FRGS, Phosphate Commissioner for New Zealand, Auckland, marked REGISTERED POST/CONTENTS, BOOK bearing 1d. (3), 1½d. (3), 3d. (2) and 1/- (2) for a total of 3/1½d. paying the sixty nine times (½d) printed matter rate plus 3d. registration for a book weighing 4lb 5oz. Included in the lot also the book 'Ocean Island and Nauru' by Ellis (published by Angus & Robertson 1935; first edition) inscribed to "Mr Robt Angus ... Auckland/27.8.35" and signed by the author, minor blemishes. A fascinating piece of history! Photo for the parcel.

note:
Albert Fuller Ellis discovered mineral and rock phosphate, a valuable fertiliser for agriculture on both Naura and Ocean Island. This proved a great boon to farming in Oceania.
