Waterlow Die Proofs
Waterlow engraved the die for the 1866 1d. and 6d. adhesives. The contract for printing the stamps ws then lost to Nissen and Parker, who were instructed to use the Waterlow dies that had been paid for. These are the only surviving examples of the die proofs struck by Waterlow
6d. in black on thin card (42x54mm.), some very light background staining otherwise fine. Unique. Photo
