1856 (20 Aug.) envelope to Edinburgh, marked "Per Jane Pirie via Callao", bearing 1855 6d. dark blue strip of four (touched or just into in places and one with light corner crease) with each cancelled by dumb obliterator, showing "paid/adelaide/s.a" c.d.s. alongside with manuscript <"1/-" in red and "2/-" on face; the envelope a little soiled and creased along top and a repaired tear at right. A fine example of mail to the UK via the Panama canal which was completed 27 January 1855. Photo
