1871 (19 Mar.) envelope (with letter headed "Pikedale") to Port Morton, Fiji care of Sydney Best in Sydney, bearing perf 13 2d. blue strip of three with indistinct cancels and showing, on reverse, Leyburn (21.3) and Brisbane (23.3) datestamps; the adhesives with some lightly stained perfs and the envelope with some tears at top in the left half clear of adhesives, nevertheless a rare destination. Note: Port Morton is a remote location in the Yasawa group of the Fiji Islands. Vincent Sandilands had gone there from Queensland to grow cotton on Nauiti. After crop failures he became the British Vice Consul at Levuka.
