1914 (22 Sept.) envelope to England with the crest of the British South Africa Police on flap, bearing perf. 15 1d. carmine cancelled by a fine strike of the "t.p.o. up/s. rhodesia" double-ring datestamp; flap torn on opening. Scarce and a very late first period of use.

Note: Prior to the Great war a Traveling Post Office was in operation from 1 March 1912 until September 26th 1914. During the war, letter posting boxes on the mail trains were withdrawn to satisfy the postal censors. These boxes were reinstated after the great war.
