Auction: 23009 - World Banknotes
(x) Imperial Bank of Persia, specimen 50 Tomans, ND (1890-1923), serial number H/B 04001-05000, a fantastic opportunity to own a slice of history; only known as the Kingdom of Persian until 1935, such notes from so early in Iranian history are hard to come by. These banknotes are highly desirable as mere issued notes, yet we have the pleasure of presenting specimen notes, circa 1890-1923. These notes have superbly vivid colours on both faces; with a portrait of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar on the right of the front face, and the symbolic coats of arms of a lion, sun and sword adorning the left of the front face and the centre of the back face. The handwritten date annotation suggests that this note is from 1919, however the CANCELLED perforation, addition of the handstamp on the reverse, and the serial number prefix H/B appears to be unlisted. It is in an excellent condition for such a note
