Auction: 23009 - World Banknotes
Lot: 248
(x) Imperial Bank of Persia, specimen 20 Tomans, ND (1890-1923), serial number F/A 02001-07000, a fantastic opportunity to own a slice of history; only known as the Kingdom of Persian until 1935, such notes from so early in Iranian history are hard to come by. These banknotes are highly desirable as mere issued notes, yet we have the pleasure of presenting specimen notes, circa 1890-1923. These notes have superbly vivid colours on both faces; with a portrait of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar on the right of the front face, and the symbolic coats of arms of a lion, sun and sword adorning the left of the front face and the centre of the back face. The serial number range of this particular note, as well as its CANCELLED perforation, suggest it is from 1903. It is in an excellent condition for such a note. Signatories are Arthur F. Grundy and Joseph Rabino
