The 'Kyrios' Collection | Kingdom of Macedon, Alexander III, 'the Great' (336-323 BC), AV Stater, Abydos, head of Athena right, wearing triple-crested Corinthian helmet decorated with coiled serpent, rev. ALEXANDROY Nike standing left holding a wreath in her right hand and a stylis in her left, monogram above pentagram to left field, cornucopiae below left wing, 8.59g (Price 1524), obverse particularly well-struck in high relief, reverse slightly softened and off-centre but still pleasing, all upon a lustrous flan, good very fine
