TOT NITET HAEC GEMMIS QVOT BOIA E STIRPE MITRATIS., five portraits of Bavarian bishops, Charlemagne and Saint Ludger hold a ribbon over the cross, view of Münster beyond, CLEMENTI BOIO LVDGERI TIARA EXORNATO. in exergue in three lines, edge plain, 44.63g (Bernheimer 148; Schwede 3.04.01), some minor contact marks, otherwise pleasingly lustrous, about extremely fine and rare, a handsome intricate medal, in NGC holder, graded AU58 (Cert. #2147021-005)

Clemens August, eighth son of the Bavarian elector Maximilian Emanuel, (1700-1761), became bishop of Paderborn and Münster in 1719, Archbishop and elector of Cologne in 1723, Bishop of Hildesheim in 1724, Bishop of Osnabrück in 1728, and High Master at Mergentheim in 1732.
