This type was only issued for three years between 1827 and 1829. 1829 marks the final year before the young but unpopular ruler was removed from power during the July Revolution. He was in Paris at the time unrest broke out but returned to Brunswick with the intention of crushing the uprising. However, things did not go his way and within just a few days, Charles was pelted with stones on route from the theatre, the palace was set on fire and the king went into exile.
