Sachsenross horse jumps left, hand issuing wreath from heaven, mining scene below, value stamp before date, plain edge, 57.65g, 5h (Kluge [Preussag] 12.2; Müseler 10.4.1/52; Duve 9b; Welter 1497; Dav. 178), scattering of very faint marks, otherwise lustrous under pleasing old grey toning, an impressive medallic sized issue, near extremely fine, in NGC holder, graded AU58 (Cert. #2147021-004) [*Second Finest Certified* / 1 Finer]

Christian Ludwig was a member of the House of Welf, ruler of the Principality of Calenberg from 1641 to 1648 and from 1648 to 1665, ruler of the Principality of Lüneburg. This hefty 2 Reichsthaler was struck in celebration of the lodes and production at the Harz Mines, where a significant quantity of silver for coinages originated.
