The 1809 "Overton 107" represents the only employment of this obverse die, before its degradation (Overton 107a) and eventual fracture (Overton 107b). The reverse also saw service in the O-108 pairing of this date. The present example is from the early die state. Of the original mintage of 1,405,810 pieces, it is thought only a few hundred pieces survive, especially in more exalted grades.
