George I (1714-1727), Guinea, 1716, fourth laureate head right, rev. crowned shields cruciform, eight strings to harp, seven hearts to Hanoverian shield, edge obliquely milled, 8.242g, 5h (Ellerby 217-225; MCE 248; Farey 605; EGC -; Spink 3631), light surface 'pock' marks on chin and Scottish Lion, otherwise lightly toned and residually lustrous, a bolder fine, one of the more frequently encountered dates and bust variety combinations in series, as testified by the Ellerby Area Hoard sale in these rooms in October 2022
