Edward VI (1547-1553), Third Period, Fine Silver Issue, Shilling, 1551-1553, Southwark (Under-Treasurer, Sir John Yorke), crowned bust facing, dividing rose and value, rev. square-topped shield over cross fourchée, 6.04g, 8h, m.m. y (North 1937; Spink 2482), with a small striking split and lightly pitted surfaces and a dark discolouration to parts, otherwise the portrait bolder, about very fine; also, Philip and Mary (1554-1558), Shilling, 1555, Tower, English titles only, PHILIP • ET • MARIA • D • G • REX • ET • REGINA • ANG, busts vis-a-vis, crown above, rev. • POSVIMVS • DEVM • ADIVTOREM • NOSTRVM • crowned oval shield, dividing X-II, 5.65g, 5h (North 1968; Spink 2501), historic score to reverse, otherwise mostly flat, otherwise with a uniform grey tone, fine, better in parts of legends (2)
