The Tudors (4), Henry VII (1485-1509), Regular Issue, Groat, 1504-1505, Tower, triple band to crowned profile right, rev. square-topped shield over cross fourchée, 3.05g [47.07grns], 1h, m.m. cross-crosslet (North 1747; Spink 2258), some softness to the central devices, otherwise with a rich cabinet tone and lustre, a pleasing very fine; also, Henry VIII (1509-1547), Third Coinage, Groat, 1544-1547, Tower, first crowned facing bust, rev. shield over long cross fourchée, 2.64g [40.74grns], 5h, m.m lis (North 1844; Spink 2369), somewhat short of flan and some rub to the higher points, otherwise toned and the portrait pleasingly bold and uniform, good very fine for issue, scarce thus; another Mary I, Sole Reign (1553-1554), Groat, Tower, crowned bust left, rev. square-topped shield over cross fourchée, 2.11g [32.57grns], 8h, m.m. pomegranate (North 1960; Spink 2491), slightly ragged to the edge and mostly flat to the central devices as usual, otherwise toned, fine to very fine in parts; lastly, Elizabeth I (1558-1603), Third and Fourth Issues, Sixpence, 1575, Tower, larger crowned and draped bust 5A left, rose behind, rev. square-topped shield over long cross fourchée, 3.02g, 4h, m.m. eglantine (North 1997; Spink 2563), softly struck and some weakness to the edges, otherwise with a dark blue-grey tone, good fine (4)
