(x) NGC AU58 | Edward the Confessor (1042-1066), 'Expanding Cross' Type, Heavy Coinage, Penny, 1050-1053, London, Beorhtsige, + EDPER D REX, diademed and draped bust left, quatrefoil-tipped sceptre before, rev. + BRICSIGE ON LVND: short voided cross with expanding limbs, 1h (cf. Oliver Burrows, "An Unnoticed Parcel from the 1872 Queen Victoria Street Hoard 1872", [BNJ, 1977], pp. 66-76, no, 39; Carlyon-Britton 1787 = Doubleday 296 same dies; North 823; BMC V; Spink 1177), lightly crimped flan, otherwise with a rich cabinet tone and lustre, pleasing portrait, good very fine, in NGC holder, graded AU58 (Cert. #4254684-001)
