The John Chatwin Collection | Eadred (946-955), 'Portrait' Type, Penny, Chester [?], Leofing ('Levinc'), + EADRED REX, crowned and draped bust right, rev. LEVVC IIDO MO, some letters retrograde, small cross pattée, 0.69g [10.65grns], 11h (LaRiviere 1003; North 713; Spink 1115), on an extremely light-weight flan, edges slightly chipped, and waterworn, otherwise lightly toned with die lines across reverse, very fine or marginally better, an extremely rare moneyer for type, with only the LaRiviere specimen sold through these rooms in 2003 known for comparison
