Lucius Aemilius Paullus, togate, standing left, erecting trophy for his victory over the Macedonians at Pydna in 168 BC, captive King Perseus of Macedon and his two sons in left field, [TER] above, PAVLLVS in exergue, [Median Spink XRF: ~ 98.225% Ag; ~ 0.2335% Au; ~ 1.215% Cu; ~ 0.3265% Pb], 3.761g [58.04grns], 7h (BMC 3373; RRC 415/1; Sydenham 926; RBW 1497; Babelon (Aemilia) 10), off-struck on a broad flan, richly cabinet toned with attractive underlying cabinet flare, almost extremely fine / good very fine

This coin commemorates the victories of the moneyer's reputed ancestor, L. Aemilius Paullus. The letters TER on the reverse refer to L. Aemilius Paullus' three triumphs: in Spain in 190 BC, Liguria in 181 BC and at the famous battle of Pydna in 168 BC, when the Romans extinguished the independent Macedonian kingdom
