The 'Haddenham' Collection of English Coins | Charles I (1625-1649), Civil War Issues, Royalist Cornwall (Truro), Crown, 1642-1643, (m.m.) CAROLVS : D .' G .' MAG .' BRIT .' FRA .' ET HI .' REX, armoured horseman King left, horse plain, no ground line, rev. (m.m.) • CHRISTO .' AVSPICE .' REGNO, oval garnished shield, 29.42g [454.0grns], 3h, m.m. rose (Besly A1; Brooker 1008-1009 same dies; North 2531; Spink 3045), on a remarkably round planchet for issue, a hint of striking softness to horse's profile, otherwise richly cabinet toned and the shield handsomely uniform, very fine, the reverse pleasingly so, rare in this unusually fine condition for issue, and with an outstanding pedigree back to the Spink family collection!
