The 'Haddenham' Collection of English Coins | Æthelred II "Unræd" (978-1016), 'Helmet' Type, Penny, c. 1003-1009, Exeter, Ælfric, + ÆÐELRED REX ANGLO, helmeted and armoured bust left, rev. + ÆLFRIC MoO EAXE, voided long cross over trefoil-tipped voided quadrilateral, 1.29g [19.91grns], 12h (Hildebrand 458-460 [Type E]; SCBI 7 [Copenhagen], 144; SCBI 30 [American], 463; FEJ 284; North 775; BMC VIII; Spink 1152), the obverse slightly struck off-centre, with creasing and peck marks, otherwise artificially toned and porous, but struck details bolder than fine to almost very fine
