Harold II (5 January - 25 October 1066), PAXS Penny, Lewes, Oswold, + HAROLD REX ANG, crowned bust left, sceptre before, rev. + OZPOLD ON LEPEEI commencing at 8 o'clock, central panel on which PAX within inner circle, 1.31g [20.2grns], 3h (SCBI 2 [Hunterian], 1192; North 836; BMC I; Spink 1186), some doubling to legends, otherwise a most pleasing portrait and with light gunmetal fields, a really good very fine, the portrait probably extremely fine

Lewes has a surprising numismatic record for the reign of Harold II thanks the recovery of the Upper Chancton Farm hoard (1866); reported to have contained 36 coins of Lewes, which is in all probability an underestimation.
