Iron Age Britain, Catuvellauni, Tasciovanos (25 BC - AD 9), AR Unit, 'Stag' type, Verlamion [Prae Hill, St Albans], TASC inscribed on central tablet, parallel and curved lines emanating therefrom, rev. Stag left, head backturned, VER before, pellet-in-annulet above rump, 1.35g [20.8grns], 9h, 32mm. x 20mm. (VA -; BMC -; Spink -; ABC 2634), the obverse overtly off-struck on an elliptical flan of full weight, otherwise richly soil-toned with handsome bluish-gunmetal patination, about extremely fine for issue, excessively rare, especially in this exemplary state
