(g) Spanish Netherlands, Albert and Isabella (1598-1621), Second Coinage, 'Truce of 12 Years', Restrike Souverain d'Or, '1612-1614', Brussels, ALBERTVS ET ELISABET DEI GRAT, conjoined crowned half-length busts right, rev. ARCHID AVST DVCES BVRG ET BRAB, crowned arms in collar of the Golden Fleece, modern 20th Century hallmark on rim, edge plain, 11.83g, 12h (cf. Delm. 158; cf. Fb. 96; cf. W.940), polished and re-gilt possibly as part of past jewellery mounting, otherwise a faithful restrike, very fine

The Brussels Souverain d'Or is the rarest coin in the recoinage series after the Truce of 12 Years. Mint records demonstrate only 1,632 coins were minted from 29 May, 1612 to 13 March, 1613 and only 998 pieces from 21 June, 1616 to 14 June, 1617 [i.e. 2,630 coins in total]. The accounts of the Maastricht Mint recorded the minting of 104 coins from 7 January 1611 to 21 June 1614, with none struck at Antwerp.
