David Thompson was born in 1792 and served with the 94th Regiment of Foot for the majority of the Peninsular War and his Pension papers note: 'Injury to ankle through gunshot'. Only two members of the 94th claimed this number and combination of clasps with this being the only example to a Sergeant and thus a unique award to the regiment.
