Spink 2012.

One of eight members of the Royal Horse Artillery who claimed this number and combination of clasps.

David Harris was born at Tunbridge, Kent in 1777 and enlisted on 16 March 1797, being posted to Captain D. Lefebures 'D' Troop, Royal Horse Artillery; although this unit was taken over by Captain Beane upon the death of Captain Lefebure at Madrid in October 1812. Harris was to see action the next year at the Battle of Vitoria where the artillery saw particularly heavy fighting.
Harris was next in action at Toulouse, when Marshal Soult's army was evicted from their defences but at a high price with nearly 600 dead and over 4,000 wounded in the Anglo-Spanish Army. This was to be his last action: returning to Britain he was discharged at Woolwich on 31 March 1815; sold together with copied research including service papers and medal rolls.
