Guernsey Identity Card, No. 1428, issued to 'Hilda Florence Chegwidden', with her photograph stapled to the card and German overstamps, very fine, together with two Internee mailcards from her and her husband (3)

Hilda Florence Chegwidden (nee Dovey) was born at Castel, Guernsey on 17 February 1888 and during the Second World War lived at Norton House, Bouet, St Peter Port. Together with her husband and son-in-law, she was deported to Germany in December 1942, being held at Oflag 55 (VD). Her letter of 4 January 1944 gives details of their Christmas but not wanting a photograph to be taken to send home due to the state of her hair and issues with the dentures she was issued, these being '...not very comfortable I can't eat with them.'

Repatriated, she was still living at Norton House by 1955.
