(x) The well-documented campaign group of four awarded to Captain A. Jordan, D.F.C., South African Air Force, who flew no less than 78 Ops in 1942 with No. 24 Squadron in the process of earning his decoration, who was killed in a flying accident on 20 December 1943

'This Officer has taken part in many Operational Sorties displaying exceptional enthusiasm and determination to engage the enemy. He has proved himself to be an outstanding Pilot of great courage and devotion to duty.'

Andrew Jordan was born on 7 March 1920 and joined the South African Air Force on 29 July 1940. He served in South Africa from 29 July 1940-5 August 1941, then at Nairobi from 6 August-6 October 1941 and in the Middle East from 7 October 1941. The following period saw him fly on a plethora of Ops and raids, indeed in the period of 1 January-31 December 1942 Jordan shared in no less than 78 raids, 13 of these by night. He notched up 127hrs 15mins of total sortie hours, of which 27hrs 35mins were by night, being richly rewarded with his D.F.C. in February 1943. Jordan would be killed in a tragic flying accident on 20 December 1943, whilst Pilot of Tutor 715, with Major Zeederberg on a test flight. His D.F.C. would be presented to his next of kin in South Africa on 24 November 1944.

Sold together with his Pilot's Flying Log Book, covering the period 3 December 1940 up until his death, with forwarding slip, dated 18 November 1952, returning the Log Book to his father, Union Defence Forces forwarding slip for the campaign medals, in the name of 'The late A. Jordan', besides photographs and copied research.
