Edmund Arthur Grubb was born on 7 August 1825, the sixth son of John Grubb of Horsenden, Buckinghamshire (and latterly Prince Edward Island). He sailed out to India to join the Bengal Army in December 1842 and was made Ensign on 14 June 1843, being advanced Lieutenant on 30 October 1845. Serving in the Sutlej campaign, he was wounded in action in the Battle of Ferozeshuhur on 21-22 December 1845 (Medal & 2 clasps). He was further advanced Captain on 9 April 1856 and Major on 20 December 1862: his unit did not serve during the Indian Mutiny. Grubb died aboard the Indiana in the Bay of Biscay during his voyage home on 12 November 1863; sold together with copied research.
