(g) Charles I (1625-1649), Gold Fantasy Restrike Bishop Juxon Medal [Five Unites], undated, after Abraham Vanderdoort, bare draped bust left, with falling lace collar, no mark of value, rev. crowned garnished shield dividing crowned cypher, plain edge, 23mm, 4.09g, brilliant, as struck, 1,933 of 5,000 struck

The original medal this fantasy restrike commemorates was struck during the reign of Charles I, believed circa 1625, and was supposedly designed by Abraham Vanderdoort for the Royal Mint. Legend has it was presented by Charles I to Bishop Juxon on the scaffold prior to his execution on 4th June 1663.

Although it is believed that the original piece was intended as a presentation piece, as was the fashion of the time, the medal has the same weight and gold content as a Five Unite piece.
