Mary, Sole Reign (1553-1554), Groat, crowned bust left, rev. square-topped shield over cross fourchée, 2.01g, 7h, m.m. pomegranate (North 1960; Spink 2492), rough-chipped with a resulting hairline flan split from 11 o'clock and through the crown, slightly buckled, otherwise an atypically strong portrait for this notoriously soft issue, struck details considerably better than fine
