Silver pin framing a small painted portrait miniature of the composer Wagner wearing his signature hat, in R.C. Oldfield Goldsmith& Jewellery fitted case, c. 1880, good condition, a rare and unusual personal piece from Wagner

Given as gift by Cosimo Wagner after her invitation to Marie Brema to sing at Bayreuth, 1894, during the Richard Wagner Festival in which she performed as the first ever British singer. As a mezzo-soprano she went on to sing in various Wagnerian operas and was recognised as a star performer, both during world tours and at the State Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace.
