South Africa: Monte Carlo Gold Mining Co. Ltd., £1 shares, 188[9], #109, ornate border, black. Formed for mining in South Africa but never seemed to do much business! It was fined for refusing to supply a certificate of registration in 1890. It was also involved in the failure of the Trust and Investment Corporation of South Africa and the secretary W.W.Webb was accused of misusing funds gained from the public. Wound up in 1890. VF and rare.
