The Iron Cross and Hessen Medal for Bravery awarded to Unteroffizier J. H. Keatz, 5 Flieger Regiment

Johann Heinrich Keatz was born on 22 March 1896 at Lingalbad, Hesse. Enlisting into the 167th Infantry Regiment on 24 August 1914 he was posted to the 1st Infantry Regiment on 4 March 1915. Transferring to flying school on 15 October 1917 Keatz got his flying badge on 3 April 1918. Posted to the 5th Flying Regiment the next month on 1 May but taken off the roll on 13 May, possibly as a result of being killed in action.

Sold together with his Flying Log Book, the entries end on 1 May 1918.
